about

Written in June 2016, "Pavement" highlights Desh recognizing that he is finally moving forward, both romantically and musically. This song was written 7 months, to the day, after he and his ex girlfriend had finally cut ties, and a 11 days before he would fly to Denver to play Denver Comic Con on his birthday. It features college friend Anna Challacombe, who became a friend before Desh embraced himself fully as an artist, and who watched him transition from a corporate employee to a full time musician.

lyrics

This has been a 26 and a half year prologue
last montage in the pilot's about to go off
Part One's coming
flip the page and read about a young man gunning
for success as he defines it
veered off the path but his destiny reminds him
he can't afford to stop and the recipe describes this
drive and consistency with just a hint of blindness
to how slim the odds are, they're definitely tiny
rest is what his mind needs
heart still aches but the blessings seen surprise him
lady after lady but he really isn't over you
swore in grad school that he had two enormous goals to view
build a music brand And then spend forever to grow with you
but that didn't work out and he refuses to go 0 for 2
it's hard to call the past done
and since October of '14
it's sure seemed
he's done with excuses you're his last one
now he puts his

Feet to the pavement
running til I can't anymore
This is my time I'm creating the doors
I said this is my time I'm creating the doors
No sense in waiting
I think I'll go after it now
Nothing's going to shackle me down
I said nothing's going to shackle me down
got to keep moving
Got to keep moving
Got to keep moving
people come and go but I know I've got to keep moving (keep repeating)

This has been my darkest year and my greatest one
I thought I'd feel more pain, I'm remaining numb
at the same time forward momentum
speeding up speeding up, I just want to go get it
say yo I did it
worse things could be hurting me
back when everything I ever did was faith based like fiat currency
I'd let any sort of set back leave me flat, it just had to discourage me

But I choose joy, I'm surrounding me
with visionaries, shout thanks to those who doubted me
that gives me a lift though
I'll disrupt the whole game like they are Wall Street and your boy is crypto
chomping at the bits to avoid new entrants
but I'll break in signed or independent
my mind is of a remnant
that will never take no as the final
I Just had to remind you
